Last week I was asked if I would like to be a part of "The 48 Hour Film Project" by a dear friend of ours, Kris Krainock. He thought the girls and I would be perfect for the part. So I agreed and met him and his crew with Bella and Cecilia on that upcoming Saturday to shoot.
Let me educate you a little on this "48 Hour Film Project" festival.
The 48 Hour Film Project is pretty much a lack of sleep weekend that an inspiring Filmmaker gets to endure along with his crew for 48 hours. This project is nationwide, it's pretty huuuuuuuge. Ok, you might be asking the same question I did at first, "How the fuck do they know if it took you 48 hours and you're not turning in a full months work?" Well, let me break it down for you. Friday night the countdown begins.. TICK TOCK.. the filmmaker receives four elements they must include in their film; a character, a line of dialogue, a prop, and of course a genre. From Friday night they have 48 hours to; write, shoot, edit, complete their film, and turn it in. Pretty neat huh? Once those chaotic hours are completely demolished, the film gets a screening at the local theater. Even neater huh? Who doesn't want to see their work on the big screen? I think the whole concept of this project is fucking superb. SUPERB.
The girls and I are very honored to be a part of this project no matter what the outcome might be. Kris has a very unique vision and I know on a personal level, we both share the same taste in films. Which means he has good taste. Not once did I doubt his talent or question his ability to pull this project off and fuck man, he fucking destroyed it. It gives me goosebumps to imagine what kind of work we will see from him in the feature, if 48 hours was simply child's play for him. FACT: Krainock's offbeat mind will soon conquer the film industry. Epic Filmmaking. Maybe not today, but definitely 'tomorrow'.
a Film by Kris Krainock, the film's screening is held at Suncoast this Thursday, April 14th. If you live in Las Vegas, you better cancel your plans and check the festival out. Starts at 7pm, and I believe it's 2 hours worth of short films. If you attend the festival, please vote for the obvious choice... "The Carnie" a film by Kris Krainock.
